First of all, I’m not against vacations. Not a bit. But I’m in favor for some reasons that may not be immediately obvious.
Let’s start here: I work all the time. Night and day. I work while I sleep. I bet some of you do, too.
I know the whole speech about work life-balance, and it makes sense to me in theory. I’ve just never been one of those kinds of people.
Since I was in high school, I’ve been running some kind of a business. The gears were always turning. I began writing my first book by the side of a pool when my family was on vacation.
I did a transaction to buy a company in a car, while my wife drove — also on vacation.
For me, vacations are a time to get the day-to-day business details off the front burner. But that doesn’t mean that I’m not brewing up new ideas, new products, interesting solutions and some thinking that my everyday workload might make hard to hear.
