Is Networking NOT Working?
- No immediate Gains: Don’t go into networking events or groups with the thought you will have an immediate gain or opportunity. The purpose of networking is to build mutually beneficial relationships that will form out of more than one event.
- Best networking tool: listening: This sounds easy but you really need to listen to the person and really hear how you could help them. If you can help them, than you can build a relationship, which will in turn help you.
- Be yourself: You want to build relationships and a rapport with fellow networkers. They want to meet genuine, trustworthy contacts as much as you do.
- Size does not matter: You are looking for quality networking groups, which is not necessarily the largest group. Surprisingly enough, small groups will be more likely to send you referrals than larger groups. You want to be part of a group that focuses on quality not quantity!
