Franchise Show A Success... 2010
International Franchise Expo a "Rousing Success". Nearly 8,000 Visitors and 180
Franchise Exhibitors Signal Shift in Uncertain Times,Return of Healthy
Franchise Industry.
Paramus, NJ – Strong attendance at the 2010
International Franchise Expo, held April 9-11 in Washington, DC, may represent an indication to the return of a healthy, optimistic
franchise industry.
The 19th annual expo drew nearly 8,000 domestic and international visitors and showcased 180
franchise companies offering a wide range of
franchise opportunities at virtually every investment level.
"The dust has settled and the results are in. This year's expo was a rousing success," said Tom Portesy, President of MFV Expositions, producers of the show. "If
franchise trade shows are a true microcosm of the nation's economy, then this is a positive sign that things are looking up."
Officials from the U.S. Department of Commerce and Small Business Administration kicked off the three-day event on Friday morning, confirming their support and encouragement of small business and franchises in the global marketplace.
Throughout the weekend, expo-goers delved into a program designed to reenergize the entrepreneurial spirit. In addition to the wide range of exhibitors on the expo floor - including a growing number of
children's franchises and
senior care franchises and reemergence of
restaurant franchises and hospitality concepts - over 30 free educational sessions were conducted during the event on topics that included
franchising basics and ways to obtain financing.
"It was exciting to see so many visitors at this year's IFE, which means renewed faith in not just entrepreneurism, but
franchising as a means to achieve it," said Brian Brandenburg, Master Franchisee for Cartridge World, who exhibited at the show. "Our booth was constantly busy and we had a high caliber of visitors that were genuinely interested in our concept."
According to Group Show Director, Jim Mastandrea, the extensive press and media coverage played a key part in the show's roaring success. In the weeks leading up to the event and during the event itself, a customized public relations campaign secured numerous publicity opportunities with a variety of media outlets including the Associated Press, Washington Post, Washington Business Journal and local FOX, CBS and ABC affiliates.
