Cuppy’s Coffee, Smoothies & More comes to Miami with plans for expansion

Miami, FL (November 05, 2007) -- Cuppy’s Coffee, Smoothies & More has made its way to Miami doing something its customers did not expect—hand-pulling fresh espresso shots and blending 100% real fruit smoothies from a 10X7 mobile unit with big plans for expansion in the area.

The Cuppy’s Coffee mobile unit is the first Cuppy’s Coffee location to come to Miami; however, there are plans for growth in the near future. Miami Cuppy’s Coffee, Smoothies & More owners, Natasha and Leon Melbourne, are in the process of opening a café in West Kendall. The new Cuppy’s Café will be located in the Hammocks Town Center, off of Hammocks Blvd. The coffee franchise is currently looking for six additional leases throughout Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. The franchise projects bringing approximately 40 locations into the three counties over the next two years.

The Cuppy’s Coffee, Smoothies & More mobile unit can be found serving Miami Dade College students gourmet coffee and smoothies throughout the week, and attending festivals and events throughout Dade, Broward and Monroe counties on the weekends. Look for the mobile unit at upcoming local events such as the Lincoln Field Resource Fair and the Archbishop Coleman F. Carroll High School Winterfest Carnival. The mobile unit is an approved vendor for Miami Dade County Parks and Recreation as well as the City of Homestead.

The Melbournes are both pediatric nurses for Miami Children’s Hospital. Natasha and Leon Melbourne both work the weekend night shift when they are not running their Cuppy’s mobile unit. Natasha Melbourne said, “My husband and I have always been entrepreneurs at heart. We started in the real estate market but it is inconsistent, and we wanted to invest in something that would allow us to give back to the community. Then we found and fell in love with Cuppy’s Coffee.”

The Cuppy’s Coffee mobile unit has presented several opportunities for the Melbournes to contribute to the community. This past summer the Melbournes provided two scholarships for children in the community to attend the “Best of the Rest Summer Basketball Camp” with the proceeds from their mobile unit. Additionally, the Melbournes supplied bottled water to the Palm Beach Youthfest at Palm Beach Community College and funded the Lady Express Basketball Team in Miami. “The Cuppy’s Coffee mobile unit is a great way to get involved in community events in South Florida. It has really made our family feel like an important part of the community,” said Natasha.

Cuppy’s Coffee gives customers a true taste of gourmet specialty drinks offering mochas and lattes made with delicious Ghirardelli syrups and 100% all natural crushed fruit smoothies. Customers can also enjoy a variety of pastries, muffins and assorted gourmet treats.

“The students at Miami Dade College love our products and we are seeing new faces everyday. If there is something missing on the menu and the students request it, we will try and get it for them. For example, we have added empanadas and Italian sodas by the students’ request,” said Natasha.
