As a general rule, there is a lot of customer turnover in the building services industry. Sometimes service providers do not live up to their promises and other times there are natural failures in communication. Many opportunities are missed because both parties do not set clear expectations in the beginning of their business relationship. It is always best to begin a service on a firm foundation.
The more you want done and the more frequently the services are performed the higher the price. Main points to consider in choosing your service provider:
- How often does your space need services?
- What frequency will you need, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly?
- What are your high priority areas? Is special attention needed on high visibility areas like front door glass, entry areas, patient rooms etc.?
- Do you value the staff in your facility to be identified by name tags or uniforms?
- Does the service provider have documentation of insurance and bonding?
- Does the service provider have long term customer references?
- How experienced is the senior management of the company?
- Would you value being introduced in person to the people who will be working in your facility?
- Does the company offer convenient billing services and easy payment options, like credit card processing?
- Does your service use environmental friendly green cleaning products?
- Does your provider have a system to prevent cross contamination?
- Will the provider respond promptly and with sincerity if you contact them with concerns?
- Is the provider a full service company? Do they provide for most or all of your building needs?
- Determining if the provide can meet your needs requires some due diligence by
- researching the company, references, but most importantly asking the right questions.
