Nature of the ITS Business: Sunless & Patented UV Technology The primary growth engine in the indoor tanning industry consists of the niche areas of sunless and specialized UV. This is where we focus our business. Our current product line offers three automated sunless machines. Of the more than 25,000 businesses in the United States that offer tanning services, which generate more than $5 billion in sales annually, estimates show less than 15% offer automated sunless services (because the technology is still relatively new). This is why the automated sunless industry is the fastest growing segment of the indoor tanning business. In addition to our state-of-the-art sunless systems, we hold the pioneering patent on UV light emitting diode (LED) tanning devices, which are currently under development. For efficacy and efficiency reasons, UV LED tanning devices will ultimately entirely replace the standard UV bulb technology that has been in use for the past 15 years. This is truly cutting-edge technology.
How ITS Franchisees Earn Money ITS Franchisees earn money by selling the niche products manufactured by Intelligent Tanning Systems. ITS Franchising advertises in national trade publications and through the internet, and appears at national trade shows. Purchase inquiries from potential customers that are generated through those efforts are supplied to the ITS Franchisees for the relevant territories. ITS Franchising also establishes National Accounts with chains and franchised businesses, through which ITS Franchisees earn money by taking orders from National Account locations within their territories. ITS Franchisees earn recurring revenue through ancillary product sales made into their territories through the ITS website (which means revenue without any additional work for the franchisee).
Why We Chose to Expand through a Franchise Business Model We need a geographically dispersed sales team, and we would rather work with entrepreneurs who have made a personal investment in the enterprise than manage a traditional sales force. We made the conscious choice to give up greater profit margins on individual transactions in exchange for a sales team that we believe will be more productive and fun to work with in the long run. Simply put, we are giving up short term gains in exchange for what we believe will be long term success and satisfaction with our business.
What about International Opportunities? International territories are also being established through standard distribution and Master Franchise relationships. International territories will not be part of the franchise program established for the United States.
