Children's Clothing Franchise, Children’s Orchard, Hosts National Earth Day Celebration. Upscale Resale Boutiques Help U.S. Families Save Cash and the Planet

Ann Arbor, MI (April 10, 2009) – Keeping in tune with its eco-friendly business model and philosophies, Children’s Orchard, a growing franchise of children’s ‘upscale-resale’ stores is hosting a nationwide Earth Day celebration at its more than 60 franchise locations.

On Saturday, April 18, Children’s Orchard stores across the country will distribute free tree seedling to families and offer a fun-filled day for children to participate in coloring contests and other activities designed to help them become more mindful of the environment. While the kids receive a lesson in eco-friendly living, parents will be able to peruse through Children’s Orchard’s racks of brand-name, gently used children’s clothing and accessories which are priced 40% to 80% off retail..

“Children’s Orchard is not just another retail store; we’re an environmentally conscious retailer that helps to recycle children’s clothing, toys, furniture, and equipment” said Taylor Bond, President and CEO of Children’s Orchard. “More and more families are realizing that buying and selling children’s used clothing at Children’s Orchard is an effective way to reduce the amount of textile waste that adds tons to already-bulging landfills. If certain items brought to our store don’t meet our quality standards, we simply donate them to local charitable organizations.”

Since its founding in 1980, more than 60 Children’s Orchard stores across the country have recycled and donated more than 100 million pieces of children’s clothing and have helped parents save thousands of dollars on their children’s wardrobes. At a traditional retail store, customers would expect to pay $50 or more for a Gymboree dress; the same dress would cost around $7 at Children’s Orchard. Similarly, GAPKIDS, Abercrombie, Tommy Hilfiger Kids separates that cost upwards of $70 at most stores would likely be closer to $12-$15 at Children’s Orchard.

In addition to selling high-end items at low-end prices, Children’s Orchard buys clothes and other items, paying store credit or cash for gently-used brand name toys and other products for children – a favorite feature for parents seeking to earn money and live more environmentally conscious lives.
